Education and Outreach

Opera Theater  invests heavily in educating young people, focusing on those in underserved communities, and our educational directive remains of primary importance. Working directly with schools, Opera Theater has taken opera to more than 400,000 school children. In addition, Opera Theater actively seeks opportunities to include students in productions, meeting state performance standards for direct arts experiences and creating unique partnerships with the communities and families for which we perform.

In addition, SummerFest's Resident and Young Artist Program bring some of the most talented young singers from around the world to Pittsburgh for participation in the festival, receiving world class instruction and performing roles in the main stage productions. 

These programs and the many SummerFest special events continue our long tradition and commitment to education and outreach.
